The Seavers

Has anyone noticed that they are airing Growing Pains reruns on Nick at Nite? I have to admit, I am really enjoying them. I didn't realize that the show began in 1985, I was in high school at the time. I'm kind of surprised that I remember so many of the episodes because I certainly don't remember watching the show as a high school teenager (wouldn't that have been uncool?) but somehow I must have. In watching now, I find that I miss the good old wholesome family sitcom. I'm hard pressed to think of anything like Growing Pains on TV right now...or Family Ties... or The Cosby Show. Thank goodness for reruns.

After all, who doesn't love the Seavers? Jason & Maggie, Mike, Carol & Ben, thanks for such fond, fond memories.

A bad day

Since the kids are on vacation from school this week and being that dh & I are not working today, we thought we might take a little day trip to Syracuse for some shopping & lunch, just to get the kids out for some fun. Unfortunately, that idea went out the window in a hurry.

I've been having this annoying back/leg pain on and off since last week and last night it got quite excruciating. It's a struggle to walk. So, I have to go to the doctor this afternoon. I'm figuring it's sciatica. You have no idea how much I hate to be immobile. It's driving me insane. I flip flop all over at night when I sleep and not being able to do so is driving crazy. I barely slept at all, I just couldn't move.

To continue on with this bad day, the kids were going to be sleeping at my brother & sister-in-laws tonight. Dh & I thought we'd go to dinner & the movies. I just don't see that happening now unless I suddenly make a miraculous recovery.

It's just a bad day. Ok Daniel Powter, cue the piano & start singing the bad day song now.

Awake

Last night, I saw Josh Groban in concert. It was the kickoff of his Awake tour. What can I say? He is so amazing. His voice is so smooth, so rich, it's like butter! What a blessing to have such a voice. I swear I was breathless at times just seeing & listening to him.

I also got to meet him and I got his autograph. You know, it's hard. What do you say to someone as talented as he? He was very gracious, very down to earth. You could literally feel the warmth of his personality just by talking to him for a few minutes.

His violin soloist, Lucia Micarelli, is an absolute marvel. Another amazingly talented spirit. Fantastic! This was, without doubt, a concert to remember!

A Marshmallow World

Several posts ago, I wished for snow. I do enjoy the cold, the snow, the winter, but what we are experiencing now is a bit much. This area has seen more snowfall in February alone than it has in an entire winter. It's almost suffocating. I believe we're looking at a total of 63.1 inches since February 2nd. The schools were closed for 3 days. Never in my entire life have I ever seen that happen before. The roads are just trashed. The DPW crews are working double shifts, but the stuff just keeps falling and falling. Two laned roads are reduced to one and quite slippery at that, the snow banks are so high making it virtually impossible to see around corners while driving, the wind is whipping and wind chill temperatures are in the negatives. This is definitely going to be a winter to remember! I found a quote today that holds a snowplow full of meaning right about now:
If we had no winter, the spring would not be so pleasant.- Anne Bradstreet
I think it's going to be quite awhile before we see spring, but oh how sweet it will be!!

A fantastic find

I haven't blogged in quite some time. I don't know, I've just been so "out of it" lately.

Anyway, today I was just hanging out on the 'puter, waiting to pick my kids up from school and I came across something that I had never seen before....Rebecca Sower's blog! I have always, always been a fan of hers (after all, she was one of the first scrapping celebrities) and to find this treasure of a blog was just too much. To me, Rebecca's style never gets old. I still look through her idea books to this day for inspiration. Her books are so...well...inspiring, so full of thought and purpose. Every layout that she creates has meaning. Truly a scrapbook goddess that Rebecca is.

So, I hesitated, but later decided to link her blog to mine. (see under "blogs I read") I don't know, maybe it's hokey. I don't even know her, but I really do admire her and for me, that is reason enough.
